One of my brothers is big in the boating community down in Kemah. He lives on his sail boat, has a business fixing them and also, as a captain, is hired to sail other peoples boats/yachts. He teaches sailing and scuba diving. Over the weekend there was a boating "relay for life" event (for cancer survivors) that he helped out on. My mom survived thyroid cancer (for 45+ years), my dad died of lung cancer (1985). Last week, one of my cousins died of cancer. And just learned that my sister-in-law's breast cancer has returned. So... it's not hard to figure out why he was helping at the event.
When he showed up at the family home on Saturday, he said he had brought me something that he won in a silent auction. Here it is:

    Too cool, right?
Now keep in mind that this is the same brother that was known for just mowing down anything in his way!
But now, he's getting cuttings from various places to grow at the house. He makes sure the flowers are getting watered. Moved a crape myrtle tree to another spot instead of just chopping it down. He did squish my soap aloe to death while moving a fence post... I cussed and stomped around all day over that. Maybe that's what has changed him?
    :D

What a cool chair planter. Maybe you have turned him into a gardener, amazing what a little well timed temper tantrum can result in ;)

Guilt and a seething sister certainly seems to have worked wonders on your brother Cheryl. :D It was worth having a squished soap aloe to get a lovely chair planter like that wasn't it? Good for him helping out at the event and becoming a gardener to boot. :-D

Brothers.... (I have 3) Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!
That is a very charming story for me to read. I can sense that your brother "gets" you by the gift he brought you..... I love the chair too. Sweet, because you know he had you in mind when he bid on it.
