We went into town today with our guests, and as a result walked where we normally don't walk. Down by the guest harbour I turned my head right, and guess what was growing there? By the guest harbour in town ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Yep, it's the Cymbalaria muralis, either planted by a city gardener or self-seeded. While we were at it, I photographed a bit more: Guest harbour ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The herring sorter ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The pilot ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Black man ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The city jail ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Not a very straight house ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The coastal steamer ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The day was grey and cloudy, but at least the rain had the courtesy to wait until we were at home.
I've been noticing lots of Cymbalaria muralis too - funny how we notice things like this more once someone has frawn our attention to it isn't it? It may have been overcast for you today Droopy but your photographs are lovely. I especially like the statue of the Herring Sorter.
I too love the pictures. Such quaint looking little villages and the steamer. Hope you and your guests had a great day.
What about that, Droopy! Amazing that Cymbalaria happily growing in your harbour. I quite enjoyed seeing the statues and other shots of things in your harbour. Like Eileen...I liked the herring sorters. Herring is sort of like a national fish here. It is sold everywhere sort of like hamburgers in the U.S.A. You know Droopy, that town of yours really is interesting to see. I enjoyed the foto's very much.
nice picts. I like the last one myself. When we take a trip further north of us (upper penninsula) we see these big carriers.
Oh goodie! More pics of other places! I just told a friend today how much I enjoy it when Stewbie's post pics of the farway places where they live. Looks like a quaint harbor town, Droopy, and I'll bet I'd like walking around taking in the sights. Bet your guests did too. The harbor pic sort of reminds me of the harbor towns around here too. Thanks, Droopy!
I am impressed with the fine photos of your town. Lots of windows in the homes. And they seem tall. OF course the flowers were awesome.. The jail stuck out like a sore thumb.. Must be the way to express its worth. And the last photo...Steamer and background are like out of a story book. Do come again.. With photos. b
I love your coastal town. It has a sense of age and beauty to it. No jail houses with the dignity of yours around here... I am drawn to the boats and ships in the harbor.
Thanks for liking our town. I've written a lot about it in my blog, and there are photos of houses, harbour etc. here: Up from the ashes. So it is, Netty. Most houses in town have slate roofs.
Droopy, your pictures are wonderful! What a lovely place to live. Even the jail house is pretty! Your pics have inspired me to learn more about your beautiful country. Thank you so much for sharing.
I liked touring your picturesque town, Droopy. Wouldn't it be fun if we made a picture poll of others' hometowns? I'd like to see what individual residences and gardens look like.
