Carbon dioxide generator for plants. Has anybody over here ever tried something like this? I've been hearing a lot about it now. Too many tall claims being made by too many people, (specially by those who grow illegal crops inside their own homes)... But what I'm really wondering about is, will it really have a dramatic effect on my everyday normal plants (inside a climate controlled greenhouse)??? Lots of companies are selling it over the internet. It's basically nothing but a well contained gas flame, where CO2 gas (and some water vapor) is the byproduct of combustion of natural gas (methane). It's actually too simple to build, so why order it from the internet? But before I go ahead with it, I just need to know - Has anybody over here ever tried giving CO2 gas to plants? Will I get to see a dramatic and positive effect? Or will I just be wasting my time and energy??? Just wondering, (before I actually do start making one). So anybody want to brainstorm with me a little? By the way, I'll be trying this on aquatic plants... The principle is explained in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHdsfTcm0Aw Only this person is not using CO2 from a flame, but is making it from yeast (which I personally think will become very messy).
Interesting. I had always heard that too much carbon dioxide was dangerous (different than carbon monoxide but still not healthy for you). http://chemistry.about.com/od/medicalhealth/a/Carbon-Dioxide-Poisoning.htm I am interested to hear more about this topic.
Yes, CO2 is not good for us. If we are awake, then it will make us asphyxiate - But if we are sleeping and too much CO2 is inhaled, Than we may never wake up... However all plants love CO2, as they convert it back into pure O2 (oxygen)! Actually, plants also have no problem converting carbon monoxide back into O2! They just take the carbon from the gas, and use it to grow. So the more CO or CO2, the faster growing and thus healthier your plants will become! That anyway is the theory... See this page too: https://greenair.com/browse/co2-generators.html Anyway, before I do go ahead with making my own - I'd like to bounce this idea on you guys first!
