How many of you wonder what your "Carbon Footprint" is?
I've looked and looked for a good carbon "calculator".
None of them factor in growing your own food. I mean we produce anywhere from 50 - 75% of our own food.
This must have a major effect on our "footprint" I would think.
I saw on a show the other night in the U.S. we produce 200,000,000 metric tonnes of CO2 just making hamburgers.

Thanks for bringing this up. I went to this site: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/ to find out more about this, and they worked you through a number of things to determine what your impact on the environment was. But you're right...they didn't calculate in what we gardeners may be doing to offset our footprints. This would be a good project for Earth Day which is coming up soon here in the U.S.

I went there as well. They also don't count for using wood as your primary heat source. Plus none of the sites have my vehicle, a 2005 2500 GMC diesel pick up.
I'm still looking. But the one thing I have found. On most international sites, we in the U.S. produce an immense amount more carbon per person than most of the world.
