For some unknown reason my carrots are splitting in the ground. They are still small but the ones that split are also rubbery. Does anyone know why? Thanks for your help

Carrots will crack and split if the weather is too hot and dry....or conversely if they get too much water either thru overwatering or a lot of rain.

If the green tops dry and wilt, they will draw moisture out of the carrot, causing the carrot to be rubbery.

Since yours are splitting and rubbery, it sounds like they have not been getting enough water.
