Does anyone know how to get a catalpa seed to germinate? Or maybe what part of the oat looking thing is the seed? I've had some seeds sprinkled in pots for a few weeks and there seems to be nothing going on. Some seeds are covered by dirt, some are partially covered and some are resting on top. I really love how the branches of catalpa trees form and I was hoping to start a few saplings this spring.

I have a catalpa(Catawba Native Americans called it, the tribal totem), I have never tried to sprout a seed but I intend too this year as the wisteria has almost strangled it to death. Its on my land but at my sons home.I am going to get some seeds from it hopefully. The blooms are so pretty and they really grow big up here in Montana. They don't get as big in Texas.
