Thanks all! In case you didn't recognize the caterpiller, it is a monarch, and the plant, of course is a mildweed. I hope to see the butterflies later.
Lovely yard.....and such a green thumb. I have some swamp weed for the caterpillars in my front flower bed by the door...I have noticed the butterflys laying eggs last week and once again we should be noticing caterpillars.
Sherry--Glad to hear you have swamp weed in your garden. That is good news. I am thinking of passing some of my milkweed around to friends. I just heard yesterday from a butterfly researcher that populations of butterflies are being impacted by this year's drought, as well as the use of round-up by large agricultural farms.
Such a beautiful garden, you could rent it out to Plein Air Painting groups. If I could do watercolors, this is where I'd want to do them...
