Two cedar trees in our front yard are gone and the other two are in the process of going. I finished the backyard and was going to start this week on the front yard. We sort of had it planned out, we just had to remove some youpon and scrubby trees. Then we came home on Monday and our neighbor (who owns the house we rent) was in the process of cutting down a huge cedar tree. Her daughter moved in with them and she is allergic to cedar. Her eyes are mostly always swollen and red. So our mostly shady yard is now mostly sunny. When the other two trees are gone it will be a lot more sunny. So we are back to planning the front yard. A good point is that they also cut all of the youpon and scrubby trees. They removed all the big branches and just left small stuff. Our "gardener" and I raked and tossed all the small stuff over the fence to be cleaned up later. They came and planted a tall post oak tree in the center area. We have a golden raintree and two dogwood trees to plant but they are just a couple feet tall right now. Toni is going to send me some sapling trees that she thinned out of her yard. Back to the planning board for the flower beds and the sitting area. There is still one corner of the yard with some shade so I think our chairs will go there. dr moved his grill to that corner. He had them leave the trunk of the big one about 30 inches from the ground. He's going to buld a table on it. I was some upset when they started it because I had already started some of the work we had planned. But, I can see that someone cannot go around all the time with their eyes red and swollen.
We'll work around things and maybe with a sunnier yard I'll have room for some grass and some more flowers.

What bad luck that that girl is allergic to cedar. It is no fun walking arounf with sollen eyes, is it?

Still, I would hate to miss them, as I am fond of cedars.
I am not sure if more sun is a blessing there in Texas. haha.
Well, if you can have more flowers, then that's a definate plus.

When I started reading your post, I was saddened to hear about the cedars being cut down. But... with someone suffering so much from it... who could blame them? And at least they are replacing them with other trees. I look forward to seeing your new sunny BBQ area!
