The las couple of weeks has brought some changes to the home place. The one bank along the driveway was getting to be a pain to take care of. It was covered with grass and some ground cover. But my wife and I both were having problems keeping it trimmed. A string trimmer was a lot of work and the bank is too steep to use the mower on. So last fall I sprayed it with foliage killer and then agai in early April. Now we have it covered with black mulch. We are going to put a few flat rocks in to help break it up some. Here is what it looks like now.

The Honey Locust trees are beginning to bloom so they are a buzz with bees and humming birds.

And remember all of the Autumn Joy that I transplanted? Well its ben about a month and here is what they look like now. They are about a fot tall.

Looks good. I love your lane. Is so peaceful. Will rain wash the mulch?

That's why we used the black mulch. We used some in flower beds etc. last year and once the rain packs it down, it dosn't move. The opposite bank has had it on it for a year and has stayed in place. This mulch is lind of like shredded instead of chipped.Ithink that is why it stays in place.

Your Autumn Joy has come on a treat so must love where you've planted it. :stew2: The driveway is already looking good and I hope it flattens down for you. Have you any ideas about what, if anything, you're going to plant there?

Haven't decided if we are going to plant anything there or not. It is pretty much maintenance free right now and that is what we were shooting for to begin with. But who knows, we may plant some perennials in there later on.

Beautiful park like setting. I loved the looks of your Autumn Joy last fall, can't wait to see how it all comes along again this year. Certainly has jumped right out of the ground this spring.

It would be such a pleasure to drive up a lane like that every day... The Autumn Joy looks like it didn't miss a beat after transplanting.
