So there I was, minding my own business and quilting a small wall hanging when Mark came in and said 'I have something for you to think about.'...

Basically, we have two very sorry looking garden sheds and he was wondering whether I would like to replace one of them with a summerhouse-type of shed instead. Now how is a girl able to think about quilting after that? :D

After a cup of tea( the well known British thing for thinking time)we went to see what we could do.The bigger shed will be replaced after we have had a concrete base laid. This will also give room for the water butt to stand safely on,rather than the dodgy angle it currently has. We have decided that my smaller gardening shed will be replaced by the same sort of thing because it is right next to the greenhouse and if it was replaced by a summerhouse then it would be much more inconvenient than at present.

We then looked at what we can do to improve my pots- some of which have been frost damaged and others that are too small for their occupants now.The other major decision was to fill in the planter that I feed my garden birds over and which would mean it will be much easier to keep clean but at the same time there will be space to put some pots and give a bit of height to this area...

Now all. I have to do is to get the spring tidying up together while Mark gets the building work organised....happy days :D

What good news this is, KM. Oh I know how exciting it is. We had that when we decided to get ourselves a new garden shed a coupla years ago.
It sounds as if you have already gotten some plans formed in your heads whilst deliberating over that cuppa tea. We do that over here as well.

I hope that you will allow us a pictorial following as your plan develops.

    Good plan, meid !

The quilting would have been tossed to the floor if my hubby had suggested getting a new shed!! The one we have his full of his junk (sorry - very useful stuff that might come in handy someday  )and I'd sooo love to have a shed all of my own.
It all sounds exciting and I hope you'll let us see what one you've picked and show us lots of pics of it going up.

A GARDEN SHED! Oh, how wonderful for you. It will have to be lovely to go with the rest of your garden, and be such a great place for tools, pots, bags of soil and all the other paraphernalia gardeners need.
I'm working out of a stall in the barn, so the amount of envy I'm feeling is incredible!

If the weather holds I'll get some 'before' shots soon for a benchmark for progress.

We went to have a look at some examples in a garden centre yesterday and they did themselves no favours at all- broken fitments, glass missing...unbelievable.Anyway the plan at the moment is to go to a specialist shed-maker about 20 miles away next week-end and see what they have or could do for us.If I play my cards right I may be able to upgrade from the 6ft x 6ft 'potting' shed to a 6ft x 8ft replacement 8)

Eileen, our big shed falls into the same category as your husband's(as does the garage) thankfully I managed to move the gardening stuff into the smaller one before it got buried under the other stuff.
