Our chicks are six weeks old and enjoying their big indoor coop. They are learning the ropes: Learning to perch ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) My husband installed a low perch for them to learn on. Chicks perch naturally, but they need to learn to perch on a perch and not on their waterer (messy, messy). That is Valkyrie on the perch, with Lulu on the board. Stairmaster for chickens ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) We also put in a ramp for them to run up and down on. They are perfectly capable of flying over the separator board, or jumping on and then off, but they do enjoy their "stairmaster", just like in a spa! HennyPenny is on the ramp. And before you ask, I can tell them apart, mostly because of feather markings. When they all turn completely black and weigh in at 12 lbs., it's harder!
They become even more interesting when they have names. It's like a soap opera. Thanks for the update MG.
You must have the luckiest chicks in your neighbourhood. You better watch out as word will get out and you could find yourself with some squatters!!
Soo cute!! And their feather markings sometimes stay with them in to adulthood. There is a even better chance the markind will stay if the markings are different color then the other feathers.. (ive raised my fair share of chicks)
