Here is a link to an article about chickens from Modern Farmer: http://modernfarmer.com/2016/03/chicken-facts/?utm_source=Modern Farmer Newsletter I knew my chickens communicate with me very well ("more food, more food"). My husband laughed when I said that they had emotions, and here is proof! I won't be reading this article to the ladies. They have a high enough opinion of themselves now.
When I was really young we lived in Arkansas, outside of Magnolia. It was an old farmhouse with a chicken coop and my Mom decided to raise some chickens. She had a rooster she named Henry who really disliked my younger brother....but then as far as I was concerned who didn't dislike my brother. Anyway, I digress, when Mom, Dad or I went out to gather eggs Henry just sat there but let my brother come out the back door and Henry would chase him down, jump on his back and peck his head. Mike would run screaming back into the house and I would silently laugh and congratulate Henry for being astute enough to know a problem when he saw one and how to get rid of it. Maybe there was more to my brother that Henry sensed than I knew.
