To my surprise I found 2 small chipmunks playing on the patio the other day...Willie and his wife had babys....they are little stinkers and dig up plants I have put in containers and in the ground...I try to check things daily to see what mischief they have gotten into. Now with a face like this, how can they get into so much mischief?...

They do stop and look at me when I talk to them, not as scared of me as the older ones, or maybe not as smart....hopefully they do realize I have 2 dogs that are not playing when they chase them.

Sherry8, They are so cute but I don't play with them......I use dried blood, fox urine, and moth ball crystals to keep them away. The cute, poor, things......

My yard is a certified wildlife habitat so I just make the best of them.....I will just keep filling the pots and putting plants back where they belong.

You need a certified wildlife cat to watch the plants. No cat? Perhaps a plastic guard owl. The older ones will know about owls but the younger ones might have to learn.

    A cute one indeed!
At least you can see the villains in your garden.
Mine (except from neighbor's chickens) are mostly underground.

Cute little devils aren't they? I resort to putting chicken wire on my patio planters to stop the critters digging everything up but it's not so easy when it comes to trying to protect the plants in the ground.

    Hi Sherry,

Those guys really ARE mischief in a small package, I have heard.
But like you said, they are soooo cute.

Good luck with them, I hope that they leave your plants alone.

    BTW--speaking of mischevious beasts....How's ole Bob? :)

We have thousands of those little creatures on our property. They are hoodlums and gangsters. We can't sit outside without them coming up to us to check us out sometimes hitting our legs to CHASE US OFF. I have had them run into my house as I enter through the door, then scamper back out again. I just found one shimming up along my kitchen window to enter my storage attic. Oh and my greenhouse....they eat so many plants, up, all gone....not a trace of my poor plants to be had.

I used to love them but not anymore. I don't wish to kill them but just keep them at my neighbors house. The neighbors never notice the extra critters hanging around.I don't think.
