... are on hold. I can't get into the Christmas season spirit. One reason might be the weather. I don't want last year's icy frost and no snow, but I don't want this either: I snapped the photo out of my car side window the other day. There are supposed to be mountains just across the fjord. I can't see them through the rain. Can you? I tried to start decorating last week-end, but this is how far I got: I think the center piece is just purr-fect. The door wreaths are not made yet. Since I get wet at least once per day I don't feel like cutting thuja greenery in the rain and hail when I have changed into dry clothes. Now, please, if anybody has any Christmas cheer to share, please feel free to do so. Best regards, the lethargic Norwegian.
Sorry Droopy but no Christmas cheer from me I'm afraid - at least not yet. It's either so frosty that your fingers almost drop off when you go out or it's gale force winds and heavy rain. Your rain, however, beats ours hands down as either those mountains have hibernated or gone to somewhere warmer!! You know I think I'd rather have snow than all this wet stuff. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we both get into the Christmas spirit before the 25th.
Hope this helps! We *ahem "I"* put it up last Friday. Needs more ornaments, a 9ft tree takes quite a few to look good! I need to buy more though, I didnt want to fill it with ball ornaments. I have a few birds and nests and snowflakes on it now. 2013 Christmas tree ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden ) Table setting ( photo / image / picture from TheBip's Garden )
Hello there, Lethargic Norwegian....so then Droopy, you are not at all in the mood for Christmas and all the decoration process. Well, with the way that snapshot looks, I can see why. Brrrrrrrr. Well, you made a good start though--that lovely red surface with the straw figurines and the stuffed cat. Its just as lovely as can be, I think. Well to help cheer you up I will send this old foto of us together when were younger. Maybe you recall the day....you were unhappy because you had to dress up in that pretty blue dress. You didn't like it and said that the only way that you would wear it to the Christmas Ball was if I would push you in the swing for an hour first. That was Oké, but I shall never forgive you for needling me into pulling on my old Pine Cone Man suit. It is against my better judgement, but I am going to post it anyway...at the risk of dredging-up this unhappy footnote in my life, and a hilarious one for you. :-? Cheer-up miss...I always did like the lovely little blue number that you wore that day. You looked very smart.
Droopy, it's hard to get into the Christmas decorating mood when the temperature is in the 60's and the sun is shining, but we do decorate. Here's a photo of our little farm house with candles in the windows: ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) We keep the spirit of Christmas, even if we are wearing shorts and sandals!
Yeah Atwood....I know. I just hate it when people drag up old foto's, don't you? I thought that I'd just beat her to the punch. I look much more kempt now.One grows out of the playful modes of the teenage years. The foto was taken back in my younger days when I lived in the pines....in the pines, where the sun never shines and I shivered when the cold wind blew. Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......
Droopy, let the girls decorate this year. Sure hope that rain at least slows down so you can get out once in a while. Should be close to 80 here today and the decorations are still at the top of the closet and probably will be until next year. I am thinking the only thing that sounds interesting right now is putting out the Yule Log...got new candles and greenery for it so I should at least use them.
no, I like old pictures, It's just a bit freaky in the postcard illustration the way the, "Pine Cone Man" is approaching the doll.
I put the pine garland and red bows on my front fence yesterday. May get some lights around them but I haven't done too much more yet. dooley
Yep, eileen, we've had three storms coming through in the last month. The last one had hurricane strength gusts. Brrr! Oh, Bip, your tree's lovely! It looks fully decorated from here. Sjoerd, now why did you go and do that! How embarrassing... at least for you. By the way, the cat's only stuffed with food. She thinks of that table as her perch and was not amused by the intruders. mg, your farm house looks so welcoming with the candles. Right now I wouldn't mind being able to wear shorts and sandals. Cheryl, I'd love to decorate a palm tree instead of a pine this year. They do, toni, every year, but they can't figure out how to bind the door wreaths no matter how nimble their fingers are. I wonder if it might be lack of interest. A Yule Log sounds like just the thing to start with, at least when you've got everything ready already. dooley, that sounds very nice. We've put the lights out and I'm working up courage to cut that greenery any day now. Thanks for helping me find the Christmas decorating spirit. Shared misery etc.
Heh, heh, heh....yes it is embarassing, but like I said, if I didn't show it, I was pretty sure you would have. I know what a rascal you are. Anyway...are you feeling more cheerful now?
Well miss, I know that it is much more severe up there...but I guess you guys are prepared because you are used to harsh weather. It is really great hearing from you and to know that all is well. I shall read the fora further and see if Eileen and Philip are doing Oké. I will pop out to the lottie later on to see how my sisters came through the night. It is still very windy here though. I will take the auto today though. The wind was too strong yesterday and when I biked out to the lotties, I had to get off the bike and walk, leaning into the wind. I don't intend doing that again today. Well miss, thanks for the correspondence... and you take good care.
