We are at the stage of life where we have all we need (and then some) and so are our relatives. We now exchange good wishes instead of gifts. I must admit, I missed the shopping and choosing "just the right thing" and the wrapping and making bows. So I found the perfect solution--we adopted a lady at the local nursing home! She has no family and the holidays could be rather bleak for her. The Activity Director gave us a list of things she had mentioned she'd like, or that the AD thought she could use, and I had an absolutely wonderful morning wandering aisles, picking out pretty colors, getting little suprises, and then putting everything in a huge shopping bag, taking it home, and wrapping and taping and writing tags and generally having a wonderful time! You will notice I didn't do this on "black Friday"!
What a great idea!! When our daughters are both 'on their feet' I hope we are able to do something like that too.
That is such a wonderful idea Jane! I'm sure the lady will be totally overjoyed from your generosity.
I'm sure your lady will be made to feel very special at Christmas time Jane. What a wonderful thing to do - there should be more people like you around.
That is wonderful! She will have an adopted family that cares about her and you will have that warm feeling of giving. It's a win win.
