I am always amazed when I see the two neighborhood does that have been living in yards and vacant lots (which there aren't many any more) for at least the last year.

This morning they were walking down the street as people were walking their dogs and walking to work. Unfortuately I don't get to see them for long because my one dog carries on terribly (thankfully she's a house dog).

Well caught! Deer are amazing, they seem to adapt to urban life when they need to. We have roe deer here, but I won't call them "urban" just yet.

Are your (human) neighbors OK with them? It's kind of neat to have deer living among you. (That last statement should draw some comments.... ) Of course I can say that -- We don't have any deer near here so I don't have to worry about them eating my stuff.... Anyway, good catch there Jewell!

They live in yards all over our town. The sad thing about it is our Main street is straight through to where the freeway crosses and people coming through don't know about the deer and
the deer get startled and dash out in
front of the cars. They get killed all time in town.

We have Roe deer here and you can often find them living in old graveyards in the centre of towns and cities.

Well done in managing to catch 'your' deer with your camera Jewell. :-D

Earlier this afternoon, I went on some errands and just outside one of the small wooded neighborhoods but on the main big road, a deer had been hit by a car and killed. Made me sad. I hope no one in the car was injured. I always drive more slowly in areas where I know they may be...

The freeway that runs through town gets a deer fairly regularly. I'm hate seeing them too DB. Wolf Haven is notified and they are picked up right away to feed the wolves and coyotes that are there.

Within the last week the dogs cornered a possum in the backyard and I saw a racoon in the street. Truly urban dwellers. I grabbed the dogs and the hissing possum had kept them at bay. The possums have gotten smart enough not to play dead any more. It was gone in a flash. The racoon waddled in front of my car as I came home from the store.

About ten years ago had a cougar living in one of the parks that has a number of deer. Unfortuately he began eating neighborhood pets so was shot.

It just seems so weird to me to see something as large as a deer walking the streets. They didn't used to be here. They are pests to people living out of town. Here in the neighborhood they are such a rarity cars stop and watch. Guess we will get used to them as things develop and they find new living accomodations.
