My clematis flowered again this week. The last time it flowered was in spring. Does this mean that this clematis flowers on new branches? Also, does it mean that I have to prune it? How much and when should I prune?

I always cut mine down in the spring to where I see buds ending. If it is all dry and brittle, I cut it way down. Look up your type of clemantis so you get the correct way to take care of it. Mine is blooming again too. I can't see the flowers that well, could it be fireworks clemantis like mine?

Very pretty. Its neat how the vines will stretch to reach something. Mine always like to twine around the lilac next to it.

My clematis didnt do very well this year. Sad. Im thinking maybe it didnt get enough water. Its against our front porch, which has an overhang and extends about a foot beyond, so even when it rains, that foot of soil stays dry (unless its a major sideways downpour haha). And its got a concrete foundation which may keep it from staying damp.
