I am planning to put up an arbor on the east side of my yard and I wanted a climbing rose trained to grow in the arbor. I want a lighter color bloom - white, light pink or yellow. I wanted an easy care rose (disease resistant) which is a repeat bloomer. I am in zone 7B. I would love to know your suggestions. Thanks!
check out Heirloom Roses on line! They are in Oregon and have a beautiful selection. Also, they are labeled in a way that you know exactly what you're looking at as far as petal count, height & width, fragrance level, hardiness. I have bought several from them and Zepherine Droughin in my all time favorite!
Tina, I have a few suggestions for your climbing rose: Aloha, which is a light pink, reblooming, and fragrant Autumn Sunset, which is an apricot blend color, reblooming, and fragrant Lady Ashe, which is salmon pink, reblooming and very fragrant Sombreuil, creamy white, and reblooming and fragrant We have Aloha, and have found it to be a slow grower. Lady Ashe is a lovely rose and will cover your arch more quickly. Sombreuil is a magnificent rose, but here in Texas with a lot of humidity, the unopened blossoms tend to "ball" or turn brown. You might not have that problem. You do realize that climbing roses don't have tendrils or any way of attaching themselves to arbors or trellises, and have to be tied.
