I've been trying for days to get pictures of the vultures. They fly on the thermals during the stormy parts of the day. This evening dr told me to get the camera and come out and I could probably get them as they were flying quite low. Of course, when I got out with the camera they had moved down the block and up higher so I couldn't. I did take a lot of pictures trying to get a good one but they were just too far away. But here are a few cloud pictures that you might enjoy. On the way back into the house this red geranium was just waiting for me to snap a picture. It didn't rain tonight. It rained a bit earlier but not much here. Most of it was to the East and South of us. dooley
I enjoy your cloud photos. Our sky is blue again today, for the second day running. We've got lots of clouds very often, and I like to watch them, but now I'm glad I'm only watching yours.
I've never seen a vulture before like that only at a zoo. Very cool. The clouds look like your going to have a heck of a storm. We finally are back to blue skys too.
We see turkey vultures here sometimes and once in awhile a large vulture. I would rather see red tailed Hawksbut they are more prevalent at harvest times. Wannabe
Although the Turkey Vulture often gets called a buzzard, there are no true buzzards in North America. Oddly enough, the closest relative to the buzzard to be found here is the Red Tailed Hawk.
Those are such wonderful photos dooley. We have so many buzzards here in Texas it has been bad people are allowed to kill them.I love clouds too, Droopy. These are colored so pretty.
No rain from these clouds. The rain went southeast of us. Phoenix may have gotten some yesterday. The lighter clouds was looking northeast of us and the darker clouds was looking to the southeast. The sun was setting and made that one huge cloud show up behind the dark ones. I did get some vultures but not close like I want to get. Maybe another day. dooley
Those are some big birds, aren't they, Dooley. Love the cloud photos. I love the play of light through them. Gardengater
We have buzzards that roost at night in the trees at the back of our property. There must be 20 or more. In the mornings they spread their wings way out for them to dry. They can't fly with wet wings.
What spectacular cloud fotos, Dooley. I could just look and look at them. I really lie them alot because we get skies like that here often. There was an "Old Master" that was famous for painting such skies, among other subjects-- his name was Johannes Vermeer.
