Back a couple of years ago it was determined that because of the global warming and melting snow caps as well as excessive rainfall it was necessary to strengthen our sea dikes. Part of the coastal dike strengthening at our town the experts have devised a technique that incorporated the construction of a sort of beach construction. This construction could be allowed to be used by the public. Right then, the developers were brought in and facilities were put up here and there with a bathing beach. It is almost ready. Here is a drone foto: It is all wonderful, but it will break waves that come in serious weather before they hit the dike. If you enlarge the foto, you can see the little wave ripples that indicate why this area was selected. Trivia: you can see the south end of our apt building. It looks like a vertical white spot there in the distance. If you enlarge it, it is a tiny bit better to see.
What a perfectly brilliant idea @Sjoerd , beautiful and with dual purpose benefits...an all round winner...what's not to like!!
Very intricate design and thinking ahead to plan for flooding in the future. Trivia : to check in the very back for the vertical white spot of your building .. the spot to the far right or the spot to the far left? Either way a big wave to saw Hello..
Oreti— ta. Its dual purpose is what appeals to me. Pac— glad you liked the little beach area. The white thing in the distance is the one on the right. Here it is up close: I was able to get this pic because the lady next door is selling her place. In the advert, there are pics inside and out. Daniel— cheers mate.
Cheers Oreti— it is indeed a tranquil place with the water, harbours and the big park. In the summer it is cooler at home than at the allotment complex.
Sjoerd Now that’s a picture perfect area to live. Even surrounded with trees in fall color. Looks tranquil and beautiful.
I remember the seeing the devastating floods during the winter of 1953 with the sea breaching the dikes. Anything that provides safety and prevents the loss of life is a wise decision. Jerry
You are right, Jerry. That was a terrible tragedy. These days though the experts are watching the factors very carefully,
