I found these two cups with saucers at our favorite thrift store last winter, I found the stands there a couple of years ago, I finally decided to put them together. Randy was able to drill a hole in the small one but that large one is very thick and after turning the diamond drill bit bright red he figured it wasn't going to have a hole. It's large enough that a small clay pot fits in it with room at the bottom for the water to drain out. I painted the rim red to kind of go with the cup. I used clear silicone to hold them together, hopefully at least through the rest of the summer.

It's too hot right now to plant anything outside and expect it to live so this fall or maybe next spring I will find something for them.

Super, Toni! Wouldn't those hold mints nicely--just big enough for mint for your salads, tea, or honey and mint dressing for melons.
Your thrift store finds are fabulous!

Ohhh, mint would be good. I have a large pot of chocolate mint out front, I could take some from that for it.

Wow!! Those cups are almost as big as my morning coffee cup. Great idea as a planter. The stand is what really brings the idea together.

I would never have thought to put the cups, saucers and stands together. Now that I see them though they were made for each other. What lovely planters they make. Perfect for a garden as they even have appropriate pictures on them. :-D Great work Toni and Randy.

So Toni... you and Randy have been stuck inside because of the heat too, huh? :D
Both of those are awesome. I have seen big cups like that before, but didn't think of using them as planters... or candy dishes.
Great idea and great job! :setc_089:
