It is 42f this morning. tonight, Sat night, Sun night...frost. I can't ever remember 4 days in a row at the end of May needing frost protection out in the garden. We covered two 70' rows of tomatoes a row of zucchinis and a row of cucumbers last night, just incase it dipped lower than the 41 they were calling for. All the strawberries were covered, too. Today the beans will need covered, they are up now, too. I think I need to go buy another roll of row cover....
carolyn keiper, We usually get your weather the next day, being just east of you, down the road a piece. This news you have just given me about tomorrow makes me wanna pull up the comforter in the morning and sleep in for an extra few..... Burrrrr....I don't like this.....
It got down to 42 here this morning. They say frost advisory for Eastern Oh. for Sat. 39 deg for Col. but I am going to cover my mater anyhow. If it gets to 39 in Col. it will be 35 here or lower. I am about 35 miles northwest of Col.
I don't know what the numbers have been but I know it has been cold cold cold :-x The frost hit my iris so hard they crumpled :'( The leaves on the big trees were burnt and my lilacs didn't stand a chance...
Well they changed the frost warning. Now it's into the counties on 3 sides of us, but I covered up my maters anyhow just to be on the safe side!
It is now 36...supposed to drop to 31 :-x , I hope I don't lose the tomatoes planted out int he garden.
We just had 2 cold nights with Frost warnings here and one more tonight. I have moved anything I could indoors and I am keeping my fingers crossed for everything out in the veggie garden. I hope this is the end of the frost. The weather keeps going from one extreme to the other!
Not so bad here. The thermometer read 40 F. this morning, but we did have a light frost on the back porch roof. I had covered my maters and they are ok.
It's snowing in Upstate New York! Parts of the Adirondack mountains are getting snow and freezing rain!
It's c c cold! The same thing happened last year, three weeks of cold rainy weather. It's so cold that the chipmunks are running out of acorn shells to put on the fire. They may have to apply for fuel assistance. :-( Jerry
We had 31 here this morning. When I checked the tomatoes they seemed to be fine, but I haven't been to the row of cukes or zukes yet. it was COLD this mrning. It was my first farmers market of the year and I went late since I didn't want my plants to be shocked to death in the trip from the greenhouse to the van. It is 58 now (at 12:30), but a cold wind.
