My Morning Glory has produced seeds! *lol* I know its common, but Ive never collected seed before So how do I go about saving them?? Can I plant them now or should I wait for next year? They're already out of the pod
Great! Now you tell me!! I just bought some I think you can replant them or save them some place dry for next year. I'm sure someone here knows the proper seed saving procedure. You will be hooked now You'll start collecting all kinds of seeds. It is an addictive hobby Deanna :-D
I'd like info on collecting seeds too. Will check back later. I know one of the blogs is from a lady who does all kinds. I have not heard from her yet. Gardengater
I use the return envelopes from bills, junk mail etc and store the seeds in a basket in a dry, cool place. Beware Bip - seed saving is very addictive!
Netty's spot on there...just be 100% sure that the seeds are mature--don't harvest them green. Wait until they are nice and brown and dry. I use the rule of thumb that when the pods are brown and dry ...and have split open, that's when I harvest. Of course some plants 9Like the Poppy) don't burst-open, so use your judgement. If the seed pod is brown and dry, it's probably ready. The reason you put them in paper instead of say, plastic ziplocks is to reduce the chance of "sweating" the last amount of moisture, as mould formation could ensue. I just dry them out for a week on the windowsill before storing them away.
