Hi, I have large and small furniture in my 13 X 13 studio and need to paint the 2 large things, a baker's rack and a desk.

I want to paint the large furniture because they are unfinished but I am stuck on choosing a scheme. On the one hand, I've heard that dark colors make things look smaller, which may look the space look bigger but will increase the darkness in the room due to the size of it.

On the other hand, if I paint them white or light, then they appear bigger so will the space appear smaller perhaps, while reflecting more light?

    I am absolutely stumped. :?:

The small furniture is dark, and barely stands out in the space but the big stuff is dominating and dark. Any ideas without throwing out the baker's rack - I may lose the desk and get a smaller one.

I can relate to your dilemma, since I had one very much like it some years back. I painted the furniture about the same colour as the walls, which were pearly cream, and that worked for me.
