As you know, the flashes of the hummingbirds colours on their heads, depends on different positions. I took a few today and you can see the changes. This is a male Anna's. Such wondrous creatures. Kist look at the colors, and each feather. I have a dried one and also when the one kept visiting me in my house, I looked at the wing structure before releasing him. They have almost no wing. Just a stick. It's amazing they can lift their bodies. Very special beings, they are.
An amazing set of photographs. The way the light touches on the feathers in the bird's different positions make them look almost jewel like.
They are such tiny little creatures, how can anyone not fall in love with them. I wish we had them longer but when you think of the cold and snow they are better off going south than staying here. Beautiful pictures...
I love the hummers, sadly I only get a few each year :-? I'd like to see the ones in their wintering grounds in Costa Rica or where ever they go. I've seen a few photos of one with a really long tail. Many different types than we see up north.
The colors are fantastic and it's interesting how they change colors as they move. Great photos, as always. Thank you for posting these.
The Anna's hummingbird stays here the year round. It survives some bad weather as you can see here with these two. Winter ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
