With all this snow and grayness..I am in bad need of some reminders of colour again...I think you can twig the seriousness of my colour need by the sheer volumn of this posting.

Whew...Those were alot of Hollyhocks! I hope you didn't fall asleep. heh heh heh :)
I like having different types of flower petal edges because it adds something in my eyes. Cross breeding these plants can be such a joy sometimes.

What incredible photos! I can't wait for my hollyhocks to bloom this year. I planted black ones this year and a variety of old fashioned started from seed.

What variety is the eight photo?? The blush centers are really striking.

I LOVE hollyhocks so I was wide awake all the way thru the 'picture show' Do you have any longshots of them, I love to see them in groups too.

BTW, will the snail in the pale yellow one damage the plant? Never expected to see one that far off the ground.

    Happy Easter, BudaG,

    It's a cross between #1 and #6.
I am sorry that I do not remember the names of the original plants. They are all quite old and the crosses are extremely varied.

Toni-- I will look for a foto of them from a distance. I do have some. The snail did not damage tghe flower. I think he was just resting there, He was gone the following day.

Sjoerd, I can't stop looking at the pics! They are inspiring me to get my paint brushes and oil paints out today.

Chuckle Budagardner. I had no idea that you or any ohter folks would be quite so interested in the fotos. I do not hear the posters talk about hollyhocks very often on here, so I just thought that they had other favourites.
If you do get out your paint brushes...you'll have to show your work. That would be very interesting to see.

I will be posting the finished picture on my blog when it is done for sure. I think I am going to use your photo with the snail for reference and inspiration!

I love the red ones. The pinks are pretty too, and the yellow, the white and those with different coloured centers. Even the snail looks good. :D
