Been reading about companion planting and I'm already in trouble  . My garlic is to close to beans and peas. Do I dig up garlic or take my chances? What to do?

Don`t take all you read too seriously. Why would you dig either one up? Beans & peas make above ground, garlic is an underground bulb. No problem I can see. Garlic might keep bugs away from the beans and peas. They will not be competitive assuming you will replant the garlic yearly instead of letting it naturalize. Whats the worry you have?

Just read they should not be planted near each other. Don't know why. And your right, get to serious and gardening won't be fun and relaxing.

Don't stress too much. I haven't had anything up and die on me in the garden because it didn't like it's neighbor.

Companion planting is basically a way to let plants help each other grow, and to repel pests from one plant or another. They don't kill each other off, or seriously inhibit growth (unless it's a black walnut tree which is nature's hit man).

Only two things you do not want to plant close to each other is potatoes and onions. Onions get in the potatoes eyes! LOL (just kidding)
