O.k. these set of flowers were put in at the end of May. NOTICE the RED Snapdragons. (red) red Snapdragons, potted flowers ( photo / image / picture from petunia's Garden ) Here are the very same bunch of flowers today. The same snapdragons to the left. I like to call it a fire color. The dark purple petunias have even lightened up in color. The only reason I can come up with for the color change in the snapdragons is the marigolds and the white impatiens mixed with the red earlier, now turned them an orange color. I really like this new color.
I love photographs like yours Netty. I haven't a clue why your flowers changed colour, maybe the PH in the soil or somesuch but who cares when they are as lovely as yours are. :-D
I did some looking around the web and found info that stress and the pH in soil can change the color of almost all plants. And the other plants they are near will sometimes have an influence on the color. Plus I think I remember reading once that the Solstice Series Snapdragons do change colors easier than others because of the way their colors were developed. The orange blooms I had changed to a pinky/peach color as they aged.
Thanks toni for the info on this. I thought that maybe the marigold with the white impatiens may have played into some of the color change. On a lighter side, I had to laugh to myself about the mixup of netty through this post.
