Sorry, I have not been here in a few days. I have been in the hospital with a copperhead bite. Was in ICU for over 24 hrs, then in the hospital since Sat night. I am okay. It bit me on the right forefinger. I still cant type much. I will post pics later when I get them into my computer. I will be laying around for a few days. Will pop back in soon.

I think your Copperhead bite trumps my brown Recluse bite.
Gardening is becoming a dangerous sport

Thank heavens you are recovering! As Toni said, gardening is a dangerous sport, but considering the hours we spend in the gardens, the danger isn't all that great. Just sorry you got caught in the "danger zone".
Take care of yourself, rest up, and post when you feel comfortable typing. :setc_088:

OUCH!!! Nasty ol' copperhead, how dare he bite a Stewbie. Glad to hear you are O.K.
Did the snake meet his/her demise? I would often meet up with rattlers when I lived in the southwest but usually gave them a wide birth. Once I picked up a piece of sheet metal out in the desert with a rattler underneath trying to stay out of the sun, we were both surprised, we went our separate ways.

Thank goodness you are recovering now. That must have been scary to say the least. Rest as much as you can and take care when you're next outdoors.

Ouch, that sounds like a nasty bite AA. Hope you get well soon! :stew2:

How dangerous is a Copperhead bite? I have no experience with snakes whatsoever.

Frank, a copperhead is a poisonous snake. Rattle snakes and Cottonmouths are also poisonous. Here is a link about the poisonous snakes in North America.

Deaths from copperhead bites are rare, but not unheard of. There was one in my area last year. I did have an extremely allergic reaction to one of the meds they gave me in the ER. It is one of those that it is "rare" to be allergic to. My sister also had severe reaction to it about a year and a half ago when she had surgery.

I am not sure about brown recluse bites Toni. I understand they take months to heal, and you have gangrene in the wound to contend with. That might be a problem with copperhead or other poisonous snake bites though. I hope I don't have to deal with that. I am trying to take care of it so it will heal up properly.
