I see that in one flower garden, I pulled the flowers and kept the weeds last month! One lone echinacea, poor thing! I am going to memorize those leaves!!!
Oh dear! I love the seed packets that show a picture of the seedling. There are a few ID books that have them in them, also, I do believe. I wish it was standard practice to show what they looked like. Sometimes you forget what/that you planted in a particular area. BUMMER! You could always start a seedling picture "garden" in your garden here at the stew to help with further id on future plants. You know that is a great idea for a general part of the plants page?!!!???!!!A seedling ID guide.
I'm going to need to do that Carolyn! Everything was planted by the previous owner over 30 years and it's so difficult to figure out what is what!
Oh yuk when you give the weeds a free ride!! My wife is not allowed to pull weeds as there are fewer flowers in the garden than there should be. Sometimes the only way to find out is to tag the plant in question and wait for a flower. I have 5 'Free Ride' tags out this year. I prefer to err on the side of the plant. Over the years I have acquired some interesting weeds. Jerry
I bought a large package of wildflower seeds in the spring and sifted them into one corner of the yard. There are a lot of flowers but most are what I would call a weed which I guess must be what wildflowers really are. I am going to be pulling some that I know are weeds and will get us to sneezing when they bloom. dooley
Perfect! Mine would have to look like a star wars character for R to notice when he's weed-wacking! I think he daydreams and just wanders
Jerry, That little weed to the right of the tag looks like indian tobacco. the large weed stem doesn't look familiar though.
