Last week it was in the mid- 60's F. Monday we had rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow! I get my hands on that groundhog, he is mincemeat!
April may be "the cruelest month" but February and March aren't far behind! Make yourself a pot of that delicious cheddar cheese soup and look at seed catalogs. Wonder how that soup would be with chunks of groundhog?
It is my understanding that if Punxsutawney Phil does not make an appearance that a member of the celebration delegation reaches in wakes the sleeping ground hog and pulls him out of his dark hole into a bright day and noisy crowd . Sounds like a recipe for revenge. This may account for your bad weather. If we do something to Phil a second time who knows what climatic wrath will be heaped upon us. 30 inch Blizzard buries middle of the country from Central Texas to Ohio. Jerry
We got a little more freezing rain last night and supposed to get rain today and then change over to snow tonight.
This is the stuff we in New England are suppose to get tomorrow night. Yuck!! Rain may melt the snow.
Well Capt you got the freeze while we got the heat and my lawn is brown. Close to 95ºF ☼ today .... wouldn't it be niece if we can just trade 25% of it!!
I'm all for that KK. A change in the weather pattern, we will name it "el Ng." The temperatures even out and everyone has a great day. Done!! I'm sure it will make the Captain happy. He has been "under the weather" and threatening to do something to a ground hog. Jerry
I was teased last week with wonderful warm weather, and a huge case of spring fever. Now I am watching snow fall again. Drat! I guess spring will come when it's good and ready. Hot soup and flower catalogs sound good!
I'm with you Kay. With a foot and a half of snow cover to melt, planting time is two months away. A seed catalog or a flower show is the best we're going to do for now. Jerry
It's been snowing steadily for several hours now. :-x There is about 5 inches, two more than predicted. We have chances of snow for the next 3 to 4 days. Double drat! Just when it had all melted, and we could see a promise of spring. Oh well... Time to get out the shovels...
More crap coming down. Had a little snow then ice last night then we got more snow and wind. The wind woke me at 4 am and we had about an inch with a 1/2 in. of crust on top. At one point it was snowing so hard I couldn't see the neighbors barn. Grilled groundhog sounds beter and better!
Your white stuff is here Captain. Note: Punxsutawney made Groundhog Day its own in the late 19th century, when newspaper editor Clymer Freas reportedly pitched a local celebration during, ironically, a picnic featuring grilled groundhog. You may not be too far off Captain...I did find several groundhog recipes. But who wants to go all the way to Punxsutawney ...snow....slush bad driving conditions... A seed catalog still seems easier. Jerry
I had fried groundhog when I was a kid. Tasted about like rabbit or squirrel. Just a bit of a wild taste to it, but very greasy.
I'm beginning to feel a little guilty... it'll be in the mid-70s for the next week or so with a slight chance of rain a couple of days. Lows may be to upper 40's a couple of days. But I think we still have at least one more freeze to go through. So I'm wishing some of the warmth to head up north!
It finally stopped snowing and blowing. Had to get the snow blower out to take care of the drifts. The biggest one was almost 3 ft. The sun came out and turned the snow to a heavy wet snow. The blower could hardly get through it. But everything is dripping now as the snow melts.
