A few day's ago I put out 3 one liter bottles with a recipe that is suppose to attract bugs that damage fruit on your trees.
It has a cup of sugar, 1/2 vinegar, one banana peel and fill the bottle up with water withing 2 in. of the top.
Yesterday when I went out to weed. One of the bottles was emptied, crushed and the banana peels where out of the bottle as well.I thought that my honey had hit it with the lawn mower and the contents spilled out. I didn't say anything to him at the time.
Well today I looked out our patio door and saw another bottle was tipped over, crushed, and the contents gone. So now I said something to my hubby that he should be careful mowing around the fruit trees and did he hit the bottles?
He said no way. So we have a critter that has a sweet and sour tooth. I can't believe it even takes the banana peels out of the bottles. Probably a raccoon. Very frustrating. Well I better put some Shake-away around my trees. I should buy stock in the company.

Good luck. Since we haven't got raccoons here I think they're very cute. :D But I do understand they can become quite a challenge.

Racoons are an awful nuisance and can be horribly destructive. They will and do get into anything. They are very smart and manipulative, they have excellent dexterity with their little paws. I would not be surprised if it was one doing this or it could be an opposum. they are nasty creatures.

I dislike both of those critters. Last year a raccoon was a regular in my strawberry patch. This year I am putting a fence around it and on top I am putting one strand of electric. I fix those free loaders. I'm glad I didn't hang those bottles in our trees as they are still babies and I'm sure the raccoon would have done them some hurt by trying to get the sweet water out of the bottles. :-x I really do not like them at all.
