I am also new to the forum but have a suggestion on slugs. I read recently in a magazine that if you have slugs add crushed shells or sand to your bed, the slugs dont like to be on anything sharp..I added sand to the top of one of my beds and it has realy improved. Although I dont think this will help those of you with mulch in your beds ? Moderator message: Post split from the following topic http://www.gardenstew.com/about24.html
Crushed seashells or even hair around your plants can deter slugs and snails fwrs. Any surface matter that is either sharp or will stick to their slimey underbellies and impede their movement does a very good job and stops your plants getting chewed on.
