I have done an extensive search and have determined that the reason that my cucumber leaves are turning brown and yellow is due to too muh heat. My question is should I water them more to reduce the heat? Or is there a way that I can shade them from the direct sunlight and kind of cool them down a bit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

bump, can anyone give me any ideas? Do you think there could be a deficiency in the soil? I used miracle grow liquid feed a few days ago when they first started turning brown. I am trying to find a remedy by tomorrow or the next day at the latest as I cant afford to drive to town more than once or twice a week. Thanks folks.

I don't know that you can water enough to keep the heat from affecting the cukes and I don't think shade will help either since they need direct sun to grow.
If I don't have seedlings in the ground by the first of April and have to be harvesting in May or I can pretty much blow off that years crop.
There are types of cucumbers that are not affected by the heat tho, you might try those next year.

Do you have a large beach umbrella? Maybe set that up over the cukes to shade them and water them ...they love water and some heat, but too much can be the end of them. Also you might have burned the leaves by watering them too late in the morning.
