Hey Margie, I would like the answer to that too. Last summer, I had one (outdoors in the ground) that grew a long shoot. Then it bloomed real pretty. (You can see the pics in my garden here at GS)
But I left it be and it sort of slowly withered and died off from the main plant.

Depends on the type of shoot. Is it a flower stalk or one of the hens stretching out because it isn't getting enough light?

If it is a flower stalk enjoy it. Some are quite pretty. The mother plant will die after flowering, but hopefully you have enough chicks that it won't matter much.

Hanging off my hens and chicks

It is just a real long shoot long and skinny with little tiny leaves on them, it has about 6 or 7 hanging off of it and I have a couple of little getting ready to do the same thing,I just didn't know if it might be taking away from the plant itself.

    Thank you all Margie :stew2:

It sounds like it is going to flower.
