House finches are a pretty common bird, but this one posed in a particularly cute way: Only one weekend left in the Cornell count, which is fortunate since we are having trouble spotting birds among all the tree leaves!
I think your house finch is saying: "I think this is my best side so feel free to snap away and post me on GardenStew."
Wow, what a great shot. We have very few house finch's that come to our feeders. That boy is stunning.
Nice shot, they come in so many different colors. I should post some of the colors that I have seen, but won't invade your post. Well done.
Kildale, I'd love to see some of your finches' colors! We only get the house finches who come in red head and breast, and drab brown. Thank you for the compliment, and please "invade" (aka supplementing) this post!
With permission to add a few pictures here. The House Finch is a common bird in North America. It has a varying color appearance. Here are some shots that I have taken on the sundeck showing a few colors that I have seen. I have not added any of the female.
Gosh so many different colourations in the same species. I'm so glad we have you around to show us them as I'm sure it will make bird watching so much easier for quite a few of our members.
