A while ago our forum member Blissful Photons had requested to see a few pictures of my area. Just to learn what life in this side of the world is like. Of course, I being ultra lazy by nature meant that I never got around to it - Up till now that is! :D

So here is what my area of Karachi looks like. No, I didn't make this video, someone else did - But it should give everyone a very good idea what it feels like to be here. :)

Everyday life on the other side of the world. I noticed the riders were dressed warmly, was it a cool day?

Cyclists in the Dallas area have the same problem with car and truck drivers not sharing the streets....and then there are the cyclists who take it to the other extreme. Several cities have established bike routes, some on the streets of the city and some are bike and hiking paths around lakes and parks.

The Shell gas station in one of the shots looks like the one down the street not far from me. McDonald's are everywhere now, hope the food they make there is better than what you get around here.

Is Karachi having flooding from the monsoons? I know some of the rain was back while I was in the hospital but there seems to have been more lately. Hope you and yours are high, dry and safe

Cold day in Karachi? Hardly... But this was shot early in the morning, like at around 06:30 hours - I myself know some people in this gang of cyclists, so was thinking of joining them (that's how I found the video).
    :stew1:

Well nobody here from the city administration will ever have the courage to make bike only paths. Bicycles here are generally seen as a poor man's vehicle (and so detested by motorists) - So anyone using bikes for recreation, specially adults, well, let's just say that it was an unheard concept up till now... But these guys are attempting to be changing the mindset!

And yes, McDonald's and KFC are everywhere now. But taste wise they are bland (to my taste anyway). But their potato french fries are good, so if I have to buy anything from there, I get those fries and the largest possible container of Sprite (provided that it has ice in it). Nowadays McDonald's too has realized that their formula was not suited to our taste, so they over here started to give things from their Arabian menu (called McArabia).

But since I hate chicken in every form anyway (always did and forever will), :D means that I still wouldn't give it a try - But one thing good about Mcdonald's is their quick drive-through service (which other local Pakistani fast food places still can't seem to grasp)...

And no, no flooding in my area, and neither in the rest of Karachi at this time. We are currently experiencing another mild headwave (and no rain)... Besides, this area of mine is called DHA, and the adjoining area is called Clifton (near the ocean) - So water here doesn't collect, but washes straight out to sea.
