These may be animals or plants that I have photographed on the beach or at low tides in the sea. We start off with a sponge, Haliclona permollis, Purple Sponge.

I've never seen a live sponge before. I didn't know they grew over rocks in that way.

We have two pictures today. The first shows an Orange Sea Cucumber, Cucumaria miniata,as they are usually found, and then the second as it feeds. Rather interesting to see them feeding.

Your photographs look like two completely different creatures. I've picked up more useful information now. Thank you. :-D

We usually see the jelly fish washed up on the beach, they can still sting when they are dead by the way. They look great when they are swimming. This is one called, Lions mane jellyfish.

We used to see large stranded jellyfish on the beaches when I was younger. On a hot day I swear you could smell them miles away.

It is like I said, we see them usually all washed up on the beach.

That crab has the right idea for blending into its background. I wonder how those bits of decoration stay put though once they've been placed.

My favorite crab, Phyllolithodes papillosus, the Heart crab. Nothing like a regular crab but is rather neat.

I can see why it's a favourite of yours. I would never have thought that a crab could be so lovely.

They don't look like much in the first photograph but they are rather lovely when they're feeding aren't they?
