These may be animals or plants that I have photographed on the beach or at low tides in the sea. We start off with a sponge, Haliclona permollis, Purple Sponge. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
We have two pictures today. The first shows an Orange Sea Cucumber, Cucumaria miniata,as they are usually found, and then the second as it feeds. Rather interesting to see them feeding. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
Your photographs look like two completely different creatures. I've picked up more useful information now. Thank you. :-D
We usually see the jelly fish washed up on the beach, they can still sting when they are dead by the way. They look great when they are swimming. This is one called, Lions mane jellyfish. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
We used to see large stranded jellyfish on the beaches when I was younger. On a hot day I swear you could smell them miles away.
Two images today, one starting and one when the decorators have been in,Oregonia gracilis, Graceful Decorator Crab. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
That crab has the right idea for blending into its background. I wonder how those bits of decoration stay put though once they've been placed.
My favorite crab, Phyllolithodes papillosus, the Heart crab. Nothing like a regular crab but is rather neat. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
Anoth one of the strange marine worms. I managed to take some shots of them feeding so we have two images today, This is Serpula vermicularis, Calcareous tube worm. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
They don't look like much in the first photograph but they are rather lovely when they're feeding aren't they?
