Ok, I'll say it. SPRING! At least today, just look at this: Hepatica ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Erythronium dens-canis spp niveum ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Helleborus orientalis ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Helleborus orientalis ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Caltha palustris ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Fingers crossed this will last. Yes, I'm happy now.
Ahhh!!!! Finally, right Droopy? I like the hepatica -- looks like a brave little bloomer. Pretty blue. I have my fingers crossed that Spring will stick around now for you.
I'd be scared to say that "S" word if I were you Droopy. But your blooms are beautiful and I guess they were not bothered by the snow
Now all you need is for the better weather to stay around without even the threat of any more white stuff. Your Erythronium are really pretty Droopy as is the Hepatica. :-D
Was this Winter longer than usual Droopy or is this average for your area? It seemed never-ending. I'm glad you've turned the corner!!
Well, db, it was a lot longer than what we've been used to for the last twenty years or so, but no longer than it used to be before. The frost started late in October, the snow came in the beginning of December, and now it's late April and we're not quite certain about it being Spring yet. The problem this winter was the amount of snow, I think. We're not used to having such huge amounts any more, and we're certainly not used to it staying for more than one week at a time, even though we can get lots of snowfalls in one normal winter. Coastal climate, you know. Very unstable.
