    Hello,

I'm in desperate need of some advice!

I have a sitting room / dining room that has been knocked through to make one room, but part of the partition is still there(couldn't be removed as house would fall down). The room also has two fireplaces in it, due to it having been two rooms previously. It also has two doors and radiators at either end. One room is slightly bigger and we use that to sit in. The other room is a dead space. Things get dumped there and it gets more and more cluttered. We really need to be able to use this space properly, but cannot come up with a successful way of arranging things to make the whole room usable.

The space is about 24' long with two fireplaces on one long side, and two doors almost opposite the fireplaces on the other long side. On the shorter walls (14' and 12'), are windows with radiators under them.

Any ideas? We are willing to try almost anything!!!

    Thank you.

Would it be possible, to first support the division wall area, because it must have a support beam there? then add to big strong decorative columns, and maybe a low knee wall on side of fireplace wall to the column..then turn new space into either a library/office/PC rm.
We did something similar here, from great rm. into media rm. there is a support beam across the top, however with walls remaining, but you could use big columns from floor to ceiling, hard to explain, sorry!
