Blimey they were lucky not to get gored by those antlers!! Thankfully all ended well and both stags are free to continue with the rut.

They sure were, Eileen! Those beasts are quite heavy and in that excited state might do anything...and COULD do anything. Its hats off to those two guys for persevering. Towards the end the remaining stag obviously tired out a bit...but still had the strength to make hamburger of those two good guys. You could see that by how quickly it ran away when free.

Chuckle, Mart— I guess it was a case of doing the right thing...and they would have to repair that fence before going home. They couldn’t repair that with the two big boys still attached. The fence repair is not something that could be done quickly either. As a child when sent to my grandparents farm for the summer, repairing fences was one of my chores. I had to do it alone. I didn’t mind, but it did take time.
One time I went to work on my uncle’s fences and noted on several fenceposts ...coffee mugs. One would have been remarkable, but all across his property were mugs on top of fenceposts. He must have been a coffee addict.

Anyway, I collected up a bunch of them and brought them back to his house when I had tightened up this one segment of loose wire. My aunt ...you should have heard her. Haha . When confronted with all the cups that I produced from my pockets, as my aunt began to go on about his habits, he went silent, looked at me in a cross way and left the room saying that he had to go and check my work. My aunt and I roared with laughter.

I know what you mean Cayu. The Bride and I were also saying, “whew!” when finally that remaining deer was freed. It could have all ended so tragically.

Great story about repairing barbed wire fencing. That's hysterical about those cups!

Yeah Cayu— those cups. They were a family joke and we all teased him about them at every opportunity. My aunt knew that he had that habit, but I don’t think that she had any idea of how many he actually had sitting around. What I brought back that day wasn’t all of them either. Oh Mary, one could really laugh in our family. Everyone was always teasing some other family member about something. I get all nostalgic just thinking back.
