Had 8 deer in the driveway this morning. They were down on the other side of the bridge. They came across the bridge and into the side yard and then onto the deer super highway. It was just barely daylight. If there hadn't been any snow on the ground, I would never have seen them. Too dark to get any good pics.

It's a long time since I last saw any deer around here. Sadly all the new buildings that have gone up have pushed them out along with other species. Human progress isn't always a good thing.

There was enough land left between houses by contractors when building the homes in the area to accommodate wildlife. Hidden by many trees, evergreens and brush, deer, turkey, pheasant, coyotes and assorted other creatures travel this woodland on their nightly/daily excursions hunting for food and safety. It is interesting to look for footprints in newly fallen snow to see what has traveled through the area.

We also see many in back.Dh snow plowed for them a path so can eat grass. If we have freezing rain he puts cracked corn for them and birds.Keeps them away from fruit trees.Had about 30 doves in driveway last night

I love to see the deer in the winter passing threw our yard. The people who lived here before us had a game farm license and raised orphaned fawns. Then when they would get big enough to fend for themselves they would just turn them loose as we live out in the country with a lot of area for them to live in. They use to come up in the yard at night in the winter all the time. We figured it was some of the deer that were raised here. Now we almost no deer, or tracks from them. :( We also had been able to get within 20ft or so during the summer when we were riding in our golf car. Now no deer.

That's great Capt! I haven't seen any deer all winter around here. I have had the trail camera out in it's regular position for 3 weeks now and not a single photo! I haven't seen or heard any coyote's either and that would explain the rabbit population explosion in my yard! I wonder where all the animals are?

Since neighbors moved away and no attempt of selling their house. A true jungle in back of their couple acres .Yesterday about 15 came running out. Seen them pawing ground. They use to have salt blocks there. Will eat dirt for years later after salt is gone.

It is not unusual to look out & see deer walking through the yard. They have good cover at the rear of our property. They rarely do any damage. Maybe scrape young trees at certain time of year.
