Eeek! Actually, I don't mind the dentist at all, but I have a broken tooth, and I have been putting off having it sorted not because of fear, but because of the cash! It is so bloody expensive and we don't have dental insurance, and even National Health prices are steep, and I have to get the kids new school uniforms and school shoes and so on and so forth, but the pain has finally gotten the better of me, so of I go. I think the cheapest option will be to have the tooth pulled out, wonder if he will do it today. I will let you know how it goes.

If he can't, use the fresh leaves of the yarrow plant and roll and place on the tooth and bite down if you can,, it will deaden the nerves. Keep doing this until you can get to the dentist to have it all done. or you can use oil of cloves.. but that is something i never have..lol.

Good luck, and i can relate to the dental bills. Its expensive here to.

I'm an odd one I think...I love going to the dentist! I have a dental plan though and that makes all the difference. Tooth pain is not fun at all.

Home again. I don't mind the dentist either and love the clean feeling after a visit. Anyhow, yes, it will have to be either root canal work or extraction - they would prefer root canal work, which I am fine with as I have had it done twice before and it is no worse than having a little filling. However, today he numbed me, drilled down into the roots, removed the decay and has put an anit inflamitary in and a temp. filling and then I go back in 3 weeks to see the new dentist as I only saw the locum today as my lovely old dentist has gone somewhere else. It should be pain free now and the temp filling should do the trick. Just waiting for the numbness to go away so I can have a cup of tea!

So glad to hear that you're now pain free EJ. The cost of getting work done at a dentist puts me off too. I just hope that when you get the bill it's not too expensive as paying for treatment can be just as painful as having toothache!!

i'm so glad for you too ej that all went well!

biita, thanks for the info on the yarrow. i knew about the oil of cloves, but not the yarrow.

i've finally found a dentist after several years that i like. nice personality and very gentle...however, i don't like anything they do!!! yuk! it takes all my strength to just go in for a cleaning!

i'm surprized to hear that your insurance and dental rates cost so much in Norway and Sweden, etc...??? i thought all of you had a universal health insurance that covered everything. it's very hard to find dental insurance here, and very expensive as are the costs for having any work done.

Not dental work unless we're children or retired.
