Bet you didn't realize I wasn't here. Well I'm back now and wanted to post a picture of 'The Devis Punch Bowl' down the Oregon coast.

I did too. Nice shot! What exactly is a "Devils Punch Bowl"?

Did you really think you wouldn't be missed?!! Of course you were and I, for one, am so glad you're here with us again. :-D

The Devil's Punch Bowl is intriguing as it appears to have walls of sand. I would have thought that, over time, the sides would erode and collapse. Is it much larger than it looks in your photograph or is it just a small pool?

It is a massive bowl shaped crater with a large hole in the side where the waves lash through. It is part of the coastline and at some point the waves will break through the rest of the frontage. May be a lot of years yet though as it is massive.

I had an idea it would be much bigger than it looks in your first photograph. Would you mind if I pinched a copy of your picture and used it as my screensaver?

I must admit that I'am surprised that I was missed by so many, thank you for the welcome back. For being so good I have another picture for you. I managed to get a straight horizon too. I will make up a page of a few others and post it later.
