I've been out digging in the dirt this morning. I'm glad I dug most of it last month because I just need to turn it over and rake it up and put the mulch on it and it will be ready by tomorrow. I bought seeds for pole beans, bush beans, zucchini and yellow summer squash and some swiss chard and lettuce.I bought some more snap peas but it says January and February on the package so it may be a little late for those. I will think about it and maybe plant them tomorrow. We'll see. I see one of those irises are open so I will take my camera when I go back outside.

Oh, Dooley, I hear you, girl! I planted the second planting of English peas yesterday, harvested some broccoli and some dill, and today I'm putting in squash and green beans. I love springtime in Texas!
Now, if those darned potatoes would start to come up . . ..

Jane, I have potatoes coming up. I counted 20 hills out of the 36 that I planted. Think I'll water them again though we did have some rain the other night.

I planted my potatoes yesterday. Got them in just before the rain came. Are there critters that eat them?

Donna, potato leaves are toxic (nightshade family) so critters generally leave them alone. There are nematodes that make small bore holes in the potatoes, but they are fairly rare.

I finished digging the larger of the backyard garden. Maybe I will go out after supper and do the smaller half. I have plants waiting to be planted but I think the tomatoes will wait a couple more weeks.

Okay, backyard garden is all done. Tomorrow, I'll rake it smooth and decide what to plant. Maybe put the mulch down. I had the tomatoes in that garden for three years. I'm thinking that maybe I'll put them in the front yard garden this year just for a change.

Great for you Dooley. I am hoping to see a little warmer weather pretty soon. We should be planting peas here and it is NOT going to happen. tonight is 1-3" of snow...again. I am so ready for warmer weather. I do have the greenhouses going so that helps. Yesterday I did plant tomatoes inside the one, but that just isn't the same.

Love hearing and seeing your gardening progress. I keep remembering how hot if was last summer and forgot about how your fair weather starts so early. My mouth is watering thinking of those fresh peas.
