Dividing a wood poppy...anyone seen this?

    I hope I haven't killed this lovely wood poppy. It had what I thought were some seedling poppies right up close to the .other plant. I divided them and this is what appeared.

    Well I can't upload it...file is too large. I thought I had cured that problem.

    I'll describe the problem. Apparently these poppies have a thick root stock. Almost wood like. I cut it in half. What do you think?

    @Jerry Sullivan have you encountered this?

    When they grow and flower I have left then alone. Presently I am watching and waiting. Nature sometimes moves slowly...very slowly.

    Hmmmm. Hate to pop your bubble but all of mine are not only up but they are blooming. Even the babies.
