On Saturday mornings at 9:30am est Jamie at Home is on where he cooks straight from the garden. Last week it was on pumpkin an squash. Only been on once, but looks interesting so far.
I love cooking shows. My favorites chefs are, Rachael Ray, Paula Dean and Giada Delorentis. I find that after years of making the same old things it's great to try new things. I've made some complicated recipies and some very simple ones. I learn a lot from really good shows. What are your favorites?
When i was in the states i used to watch Jamie Oliver, an Anthony Bourdains, No Reservations Required. Awesome shows.. Jamie with his very fresh an organic cooking, an Anthony showing us what is native to the rest of the world an how they eat. Here in Norway i watch Cooking with Tina, a Swedish chef, who cooks very organic. Also Andreas Viastad, who is my hero btw, a norwegian chef who goes out in the wild an cooks whats there, plus you get to see the local traditions and food of the area being visited. His show is also seen in the states, Kitchen of Light, on PBS. Although i haven't seen these 2 shows for a while now. I hope they both come back on. Did i just seem like a commercial.
Those sound like wonderful shows. Very interesting. Andreas Viastad sounds like a great host. I'd love to see that show as we have a lot of venison here that we hunt. Always looking for new recipies for deer,rabbit, ducks and geese.
Well he's your guy then fastgrey, he goes off the normal path of cooking an goes for the more wild foods that are there. lots of reindeer, deer, elk, birds of all kinds, an seafood. since norway is practically all coastline there is alot of fish, an shell fish he cooks with also,, fresh water an sea water. OK I couldn't stand it... I HAD to go and look at the recipes. There are some very interesting ingredients that I probably can't get here in the small fishing village that I live in. But that being said, I am a whiz at subsitutions. I have some great recipe ideas already. Thanks again. fastgrey
I have, on occassion, watched some cooking programs. I like Jaques Pepin and Ming Tsai (Simply Ming is the name of his program) and Martin Yan is a hoot to watch and I enjoy watching the old Julia Child programs. But since I am not really into cooking all that much I watch those programs for the chef not necessarily the food.
Hubby and I both love cooking shows. We spend hours in the kitchen together. He doesn't cook but LOVES to chop and dice. It's heaven for me. He puts everything in little bowls just like on a show. :-D We watch cooking shows on pbs since we don't have cable. We love Simply Ming, America's Test Kitchen, Mexico One Plate at a Time etc. There's a new one called the Endless Feast that is excellent. We live rural and have to cook all the time so it might as well be good. :-D
I'm not much of a cook, the only time I end up watching a cooking show is when I'm hungry I do like peripheral 'cooking' shows though such as any Gordon Ramsey/Jamie Oliver programmes.
We enjoy Rachel Ray, Emeril and I adore Paula Deen! Wanted to visit her restaurant when we were in Savannah but the line circled the block!! My husband is an excellent cook so I am blessed. I prefer to bake sweets but enjoy cooking too. I like Julia Child and Paula because they use real butter! I know I should try harder to cook light but just can't bring myself to do it! I also like "The Secret Life Of" on the food channel. Deanna :-D
I like the same shows as Fastgrey. The travel channel has this guy that eats weird things in different countries and such and idt is gross and fascinating at the same time. I know how tame my pallet is when I watch cooking show and they keep me from getting stagnant.
I normally don't watch cooking shows but when I'm is Montana I have no choice.Heather loves Paula Dean and her sons and never misses them.She records them and watches them.She buys all her cook books.
Just got home from work, Wow what a response! Thanks yawl. I love most all the shows, some you all have mentioned is unfamiliar to me unfortunately. They sure sound interesting. My favorites, hmmm. Other than Jamie Oliver, Rachael Ray, Paula Dean and Giada I must add Ina (Barefoot Contessa). I like Emeril but have recently gotten tired of watching him for some reason. I like Tyler Florence to, an he's easy on the eyes! Stratsmon, now you know a southern gal is gonna use butter an lots of it. I am of course speaking for myself! Its bread into us, lol. Everything is better with butter! If it isn't butter then fried meat grease! Anything we aren't suppose to have we want right. Paula was raised up about 45min to an hour from me. T
We watch two shows: "Masterchef" and "Ready, Steady...Cook". Nice, light shows without ugly language.
