We do a bit of both. When we get up, it's breakfast time but we don't always sit down and eat breakfast first thing. I check the computer and do this and that and it could be an hour or more before we have breakfast. If we are going into town we watch the clock so we don't miss it. They start lunch at 10:30. So we have to be there by 10 am for breakfast. Lunch is when we feel like having lunch or are hungry. Sometimes as late as two or three o'clock. But, I've been noticing something. We eat supper by the light or darkness outside. When it starts to get dark, I get up and make supper. So, in summer we eat later and in winter we eat earlier. I think it must be that in summer we stay outside longer and use the time when it's light to do things outside. Especially when we worked and had limited time outside in the evening. Now, we could be outside all day and I still get up and make supper when it starts to get dark or when the sun starts over the horizon. dooley
I think that I do both. When I am at work I eat because it is lunch time, and then again when it is dinner time. On the weekend and in the winter when I am home, I only eat when I get hungry. Except dinner which is always made at 5pm because that is when my family wants to eat. I am the same way as you are too - eat later in the summer. My whole body revolves around the darkness in the winter. I eat early and get lots of sleep because once its dark my body wants to go to bed LOL
I usually skip breakfast as I go out to feed the birds, do some work in the greenhouse, then it's housework and computer. The time always seems to get away from me and before I know it it's lunchtime. We have our evening meal when Ian gets hungry as he's diabetic and needs regular meals. If he's away from home then I tend to only eat if, and when, I'm hungry. That usually means one meal a day and a couple of yoghurts which suits me just fine.
During the day I eat when I'm hungry--up about 5 am and by 11 I want lunch! Our dinner is usually at 6:30-7 pm because that is about an hour after my hubby gets home from work. He'll be retiring soon, and then we'll eat when we are hungry. "Hey, darlin', I'm hungry! Will you fix me something?" "Sugar, that's why God made Dairy Queen!"
I don't eat breakfast or lunch...except on Sunday's when Randy and I go out. Lunch only when we are traveling or out running errands but never when I am at home. I only make supper if I feel like it, otherwise it's sandwiches or find some leftovers in the fridge when anyone is hungry. When Randy and I got married he hand grown up knowing his Mom made 3 meals a day for the family on the weekends. The first Saturday he came in around noon and asked what was for lunch was the beginning of his re-training. Then several years later he worked close enough to home that he could come home for lunch and again the expectation of my having it ready for him surfaced. His re-training at that time was "Honey, I married you for better or worse but not for lunch"
I keep saying food is over rated...of course that is because it doesn't make itself or clean up the kitchen, either... it is easier if we eat as a family to not have the revolving door going on in there. Stove always on the dishes never done (as if that ever happens) BUT I like to eat when I am hungry not by the clock.
I eat when I'm hungry. I don't follow the clock most of the time, I only follow what my tummy tells me. However, I do feed my daughter on time, three times a day!
Haha! Seems like now that I'm in the house I want to eat constantly! Meals are at fairly regular times, here.Breakfast fairly early(hubby in charge)so we can leave home or get outside.Lunch at noon cause if he's out working he comes in looking!Or he goes to nearby deli for carry in if they are having something we like.Supper is when he comes home from part time job. sNs
