As you may have noticed I had a bit of a play around with the design of the site (colours/layouts) just to make it easier on the eye and more comfortable. Do you like it? :?:
You do have a little bit more color on the site. I like that you added some. Plain old black and white is hard on the eyes. Can we write in COLORS now, or must we still stick to plain old boring black and white? Your post boxes have color options, so it is silly not to use them. Lots of forums have lovely backgrounds with flowers or other pretty designs, and have no objection to using colored type faces. They look lovely.
I like what you've done to the place, Frank. You are always thinking of ways to make it better for us. Typing in colors and having backgrounds make me think 15 year old Justin Bieber fans...but that's just me. Most of the colors offered put more strain on my eyes than I want to have. I have been on other forums with colors and don't even bother to try to read those posts. Besides possibly making it hard to read the post, I feel like backgrounds detract from the subject of the post. Even the use of too many Smiles can be distracting.
Okay... I'm confused. Frank posted this back in 2005. Has there been recent changes... because I sure can't tell.
No, there have been no recent changes. Truthfully I don't even know what changes this topic was referring to, it's been so long ago Hi AA, you make a good point about why there are colour options and how we recommend against them. They are fine to highlight text occasionally but writing whole posts is just ugly and confusing in my opinion. I always think about back in the day when MySpace and Facebook were direct competitors. MySpace allowed glittery, dressed up pages but gradually lost their userbase to the cleaner, simplified Facebook. Having posts with too much decoration may be fine with some people but it risks alienating other people. Nobody rejects a website because it had clear, easy to read text.
Oh, good!!! I couldn't tell any difference in how the site looked but I figured it was something that I just wasn't paying attention to. I usually check the date of the original post since so many really old posts are brought up from time to time but I just didn't do that this time. Anyway, I still like what you have done and are doing to the forum.
An unknown would be, why did it take 8 years to respond? Where was the question hiding? A gardenstew mystery. Jerry
Cherylad--I am so glad you caught the date confusion...I was so confused, because I hadn't noticed anything different
I thought "how unobservant I must be, because I sure don't see anything different". But i felt stupid making the comment, so I abstained.
Lol,..i tried viewing on another computer as i couldn't spot anything new. Fair play to AAnightowl for coming across the post.
Frank, I ditched FB several years ago. I never bothered with MySpace at all. I did not like either one, and it has nothing do with either of their graphics styles or decor. They are however, very invasive of people's privacy, and many posters are totally rude to each other. I did not even know MySpace had ALL my private information displayed when I had not even joined, or given out that information until several years after getting internet. I think more color can be incorportated without alienating people. I have had 3 eye surgeries, and the plain black and white is hard on my eyes and causes headaches for me. So, if you don't see me around very much, that has a lot to do with it. I do like you guys, I just cannot sit here and read all day.
