Tatouage is a rub on transfer that you can buy. This is in my laundry/sewing/ironing room. I wanted something that would bring a smile to my face when I walk into the room. I had bought the wooden birds from a craft fair and wanted a way to incorporate them into my house. I am a bird and nature lover and with so many months of winter or cold weather here, I wanted a retreat. I love to garden so I added extra flowers.... I saw the tatouage on QVC (a shopping network) and came up with the idea of making a whole wall of the items. The birds houses we bought and stained and I wanted a tray feeder for my robin to eat from so my husband helped me out there and with making the branch for the cardinals. All you do is rub the transfer on the wall with a popsicle type stick. You add the extra flowers where ever you want them. I wanted a garden scene so I came up with this idea...I love my laundry room and I plan in the future to buy a large tree for another wall..
That is the most beautiful laundry room I've ever seen. I would probably sit there all day. The flowers are so detailed and lovely. Great idea.
Were all of the items available as transfers Sherry or did you have to create some of the transfer designs yourself? I love this idea, why have a plain white wall when you can do something that will make you happy every time you see it. Has anyone tried to walk through the gate yet?
That is really a beautiful laundry/sewing/ironing room. With all of those birds and flowers to enjoy I might be tempted to actually iron....nah, probably not. I really like the way you combined the transfers and dimensional items.
Thats really pretty, and exactly what I wanted to do on 1 wall of my store when I first opened up. Never did do it. I own a wild bird shop and have garden type giftstoo.
Sherry what a wonderful idea!!! You've created a graden that is full of flowers and wildlife and yet you don't even need to go outdoors to appreciate it. Now all you need to do is to incorporate the scent and sound of a garden and you'll be able to almost believe you're sitting outdoors throughout the dark days.
Funny you should say that Eileen there are CD's of bird sounds. Close your eyes and you think youre outside on a spring day. Thats what I play in my shop all day.
So pretty, Sherry8. I thought I never missed a QVC craft or Do-it-Yourself show, but missed this one. This is such a clever idea and you did an amazing job.
That is so pretty, what a great idea. It looks all so real, just like you're there in your very own garden.
Wow!!! that is an amazing wall. Did that take a while to do, i know you said it was transfers but was there alot of work putting it up. Nothing like a bit of nature inside when its cold or dried out outside,,,great idea!!
I've seen a few transfers out there, mostly child's themes for nurseries, never something that could be this extensive. Very creative, and very cheering! Were they all 'prefab' designs or did you make/color some of them yourself?
Here is a link to some other types of Tatouage..I had bought a couple sets because we wanted a longer fence. It is easy to do and you just have to be careful that it is put up evenly, not slanted. This is the place where I want to buy a large tree from. QVC doesn't have much to pick from... Once you look at what you can buy you can transform a plain wall into something quite interesting....just use your imagination. I used my own ideas of the wooden bird houses, branch and the tray and of course incorporating my wooden birds into it...take a look.... http://www.tatouagedesigns.com
Thanks for the link. My gosh, I had no idea this type of embellishing exsisted. Imagination is your only limit... and wallet of course :-o I have done small items with Rub-on transfers, such as kleenex boxes, trays, wooden plaques, etc. But this looks like so much fun. And very time consuming. I know your hands and arms must get tired of rubbing. The trick is to make sure it is all rubbed on :!: Do you seal it with anything? G-R-E-A-T job :!: :!: :!:
